Year 2

To start our Internet Safety work, we first had a discussion about ‘What is the internet?’

- “Computers can’t work without it.” Phoebe

- “Allows you to play games.” Ivy

- “Something you can do anything on.” Lucas

- Every phone has it.” Miles

We then discussed the many things people can do online; here are a few suggestions...

-“WhatsApp” Emmanuel

- “Online shopping” Abigail

- “Watch BBC iPlayer and Disney+” Emmie

- “Twitter” Imogen

- “Watch funny Facebook videos with my dad” Pippa

We then learnt about self-image and identity and how other people may look online and why they might choose different pictures online to what they actually look like in real life. We also discussed about how we should behave online.

We also learnt about what is an avatar and what it can be used for.
-“A picture to represent you.” Abigail

- “It can be someone trying to catfish you.” Aanu

-“Behind an avatar can be a boy or girl.” Ire

We then created our own avatar making sure it looked similar to us. We then had to guess who’s who and try and match each of our friends to their avatar.

“During our online safety morning, we also learnt about top tips of staying safe online and who we can tell if we are worried about anything online.” Aanu
