Year 3

What is an identity? What makes up our identity?

What ways can our identities be similar or different to others?

Y3- "Identities can be similar because people may share the same gender, school or hobbies. Identities can be different because people maybe be a different age, have different religions and have different appearances."

How might someone show their identity online?

Y3- "People can show their identity online through profile pictures, avatars, biographies and the information they share."

What might someone feel happy to share about themselves online and what might they not want to share? Why?

Y3- "We might want to share things which we like and dislike but we wouldn’t want to share our phone number or address because this is too personal and shouldn’t be shared online. Someone could catfish you or pretend to be you."

Why might someone change their identity online for different platforms? e.g. gaming; using an avatar; social media

Y3- "People would want to change their identity online for different platforms because they want personal and professional identities. If you are playing a game, you will give away less information away but If you are creating a professional profile for a job, you will give lots of information away."

How can someone change their identity online?

Y3- "Someone can change their identity online by changing their avatar or using someone else’s profile picture. They could use someone else’s name or pretend they have the same hobbies as someone else."
