Year 2

We learnt about how someone might use technology to communicate with others we don't also know offline and why this might be risky.

We began by having a discussion about 'What does online mean?'

- 'It means you are playing a game' - Ivy

- 'Play on a app online, if you don't have your face protected people will know who you are' - Imogen

- 'So it's like when you are on a website and you are playing a game like Roblox and you are playing with your friends and someone might catfish you.' - Emmanuel

- When you are using the Internet.' - Ethan

We also discussed 'Is it ok to communicate with people online we don't know?'

- 'No we should not because they might catfish you.' - Abby

- 'No because you don't know who it is and we shouldn't talk to strangers.' - Alfie

- 'No because they might kidnap you.' - Phoebe

- 'No they might be mean to you.' - Joshua

- 'They might trick you and ask you for your personal details and then they might harm you or make you do means things.' - Ivy

We also discussed people that we know and people that we know but not that well.

We came up with these people.

We then discussed about the people we can communicate with online. Here are the people we communicate with and what technology we use to communicate with them.

'In this lesson we learnt that we should not use technology to talk to people online that we don't know offline .' - Faatimah

'We should communicate online with people that we know in real life.' - Imogen

We worked independently to complete a table to describe the different people we might use technology to communicate with, what technology we might use and why we would communicate that way.
