Remembrance Day

We read the story, Where the Poppies Now Grow. We loved how the story developed and built through the repetition.

We also researched the history of Remembrance Day to learn about when the first one was held and why. We write short information texts to show our understanding of the history.

We gained knowledge about how people show their remembrance for the soldiers and service personnel that have been killed or injured through conflict. We used our understanding to write acrostic poems. Some of us used the word poppy, war, respect or conflict.

We also looked at the symbolism of conflict being the poppy and created some of our own poppies using chalk and charcoal.
