Real Life

Picture News

Each week, the children use Picture News to learn about current issues in the world. This week we have been learning about how we can keep warm in winter as well as warm spaces and their importance in the community.

We wrote some 'Top Tips' for Sunny the meerkat about how he could keep warm this winter.

Geography

Today, we used Google Earth on the Ipads to explore where in the world our school is. We enjoyed looking around the area to see what other landmarks we could find.

We have been learning about the different continents. We enjoyed making our own passports ready to board the plane and visited all 7 continents.

We especially liked taking off and landing!

Author Visit

Year 1 enjoyed having a Zoom call with Nathan, the author of Harry the Happy Mouse. The children learnt about life as an author and had the opportunity to ask Nathan lots of questions as well as share their stories with him.

History

This half term, in History, we have been learning all about transport. As part of this unit, we have been learning about The Wright Brothers. We had a fantastic time doing role play as The Wright Brothers and thinking about how they would have felt when they managed to fly successfully.

Some of the questions that we wanted to ask The Wright Brothers:

What inspired you to start flying?

How did it feel when you flew the plane successfully?

When and where was your first flight?
