This advent season, we visited a local residential home to spread a little Christmas cheer through song.
Today we mummified a tomato so we could put into practical terms the reading that we had done before. We needed to use the correct vocabulary to describe the process.
In Picture News we made a class paper chain to represent peace. On one side we wrote synonyms for peace and on the other we drew a picture of what peace meant to us. We joined this on with other classes to make a long chain and we are going to measure it.
We took our reading knowledge of how levers work in a mechanism and explored creating our own that we might possibly use in our Christmas cards which we design.
We learnt how to separate the silt and sand from the water of The Nile. We now know how to rotate our crop fields without falling victim to the rising levels of the Nile. We understand what games the Ancient Egyptians played and the links to our own board games. We learnt about the importance of the scarab beetle symbol and how the Egyptians used Malachite to colour their cartouches. With our precious corn we learnt how to grind as a team to create flour. We worked as archaeologists to explore some hidden treasures, observe the material they were made from and what they could be used for.
We brought the information from books to life in our session.
