Real Life

Year 3 have been looking at the work of Antony Gormley. We have been researching the materials Antony has used to create his sculptures and looking at the form of each sculpture. We had to think carefully about the size of some body parts in comparison to others. Children had to measure their hands and feet to work out which should be bigger on their sculpture.

Year 3 have been looking at the Stone Age through to the Iron Age and have had the opportunity to experience real life artefacts as well as house building, spear throwing and log chopping.

We have been experimenting to investigate how water and nutrients travel within a plant. Children have been able to identify the different parts of a flowering plant and their functions.

We have been looking at the work of Nick Park and creating our own clay sculptures in the same style. We have to give reasons for each sculpture having the features that it did e.g. big ears of listening to quiet sounds.
