Year 3

On Thursday 10th May, year 3 had a visit from the Life Bus. We learned all about our body, including our organs and bones. We looked at what happens to our body if we don't make the right choices, such as, making sure we eat the right foods and cleaning our teeth.

The organs we looked at were:

  • Lungs
  • Heart
  • Brain
  • Liver
  • Intestines
  • Stomach

The body was called Pam and when we had spoke about a certain organ, we could touch that organ to light it up on Pam.

The last organ we lit up was the brain. This was our main part of our topic on the Life Bus as we looked at how we use our brain to make choices and different decisions.

Suddenly, all the lights went off! This was because the brain at the front was talking to us and showing us what the brain looked like but also all the nerves that our in our body.

We learnt that these nerves send and receive messages to and from the brain. That's why we have so many of them.

We also learnt that the brain can send and receive lots of messages at one time.

To show this, we followed Susan's instructions of doing lots of different actions at once. Some were very tricky!

To finish off our session, we met Harold. Harold was a giraffe who went everywhere with Susan on the Life Bus.

We watched a video of him taking part in a talent show with his friends; Kiki the kangaroo and Derek the penguin. Harold didn't win the talent show but the video showed us that sometimes a decision we make can be a tough decision if it is something we don't want.
