Know how to prepare a savoury dish

To fit with our WW2 theme we made vegetable turnovers. We discussed the types of vegetables that would have been grown in a veg patch over an Anderson shelter. We decided that root vegetables were easiest to grow. We learned to peel, chop, slice and dice. We also learned that the vegetables needed to the the same size so that they cooked evenly. We made the pastry from scratch too. We measured out the flour and added the butter and water. We rolled our pastry evenly and added our vegetables before cooking.
