KS1

Year 1

Year 1 have been learning all about Remembrance Day and why people wear poppies. We thought about what we are grateful for and use collage to create poppy hanging decorations that we could display in our classroom and at home

Emilie - I am grateful for my sister.

Humaid - I am grateful for my family.

Chimamanda - I am grateful for school and my teachers.

Year 2

To celebrate Remembrance Day, Year 2 learnt about when World War 1 first started and when it ended.

We learnt about the importance of wearing a poppy.

‘We wear a poppy as that was the first flower to grow when the war ended.’ - Bhuvan

We then decorated poppies.

We also looked at medals that the soldiers received from the war and we created our very own medals to remember Remembrance Day. Below are some examples of our medals.

To remember the soldiers who fought in the war, we wrote special prayers for them on poppy wreaths.
