Science

One of our topics this term is Living Things and their Habitats where we look at Life Cycles. To start this off we watched a lesson from Science Week 2022 which allowed us to look at mammal life cycles on a farm. This included a life cycle of a cow and a sheep. We saw that the time periods for the pregnancy of these mammals differed even though they were both mammals. We were also able to see a baby calf and lamb being born.

We then created our own life cycles looking at the life cycle of a bird, insect and an amphibian. As a table we picked a creature from each category and researched the life cycle of each looking at the periods of pregnancy and becoming fully-grown in particular.

We then had some of our own caterpillars to see a life cycle in real life and to complete an Observing over Time science enquiry. We filled these journals out into our books and created a class PowerPoint. Clink on the link below to see the progress of the caterpillars.
