RE Vision

RE is an integral part of everyday life at Fulwood St.Peter's Primary School. Here at our school, children will learn about different religions, beliefs and festivals. Children are taught about a range of religions and are encouraged to ask questions about different religions, traditions and cultures. Children are taught to think about their own school values and personal values to understand how people of different backgrounds or beliefs may share similar values while differing in others. They show endurance by encouraging each other, fostering respect and working to unlock their potential using the keys of respect, kindness, compassion, courage, forgiveness and love. These are rooted in the scriptures prompting the pupils to consider their responsibilities to themselves and others. Questions are asked of the children whilst allowing them to ask their own question in order to develop their critical thinking, self-belief and confidence. We seek to encourage endurance and confidence by giving the children choices. The children are given choices and flexibility to apply religious beliefs, learning in depth by leaning about Christianity and other world faiths, being independent by exploring their own and other religions and linking the RE curriculum to real life by using artifacts, visitors and their own lives. Children's knowledge is assessed at the start of a particular unit in order to see if the learning has been embedded in the previous years groups. This will ensure lessons are sequenced and built upon what has previously be learnt. Teaching strategies are used in lessons to regularly check the children's knowledge using growth mindset.
