Spring Term

The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit

In our class assemblies this term, we have started off by looking at the Holy Trinity.

We first looked at what the trinity was.

This is The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.

We talked about how these three things are all God! God is the father, God is the Holy Spirit and how God is the Son.

We discussed how even though God is 3 different persons - he is still only one.

We used the exampled of Mrs Hodson.

Mrs Hodson is a mum, she is also a daughter and she also a sister... but she is still only one person.

We then discussed how God is the Father. And answered the questions: What is a Father?

  • Our answers consisted of:
  • Someone who looks after you
  • Someone who protects you
  • Like a mum
  • Someone who makes you happy and safe.

We then compared this to God. How God and a father what we had just described compares to each other.

After some discussion we had some reflection time.

During this reflection time we wrote on a big cross. We chatted about how when people make the sign of the cross they say - In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

We had seen and heard this before after our services with Rev Rie as she blesses us all before we go back to class.

On the cross we had to answer three questions, which were:

  • Why is God known as the Father?
  • Like God the Father, who else protects us?
  • How does it feel to be protected?

Here is our cross with our answers.
