We asked adults some questions to find out how and why they read the Bible?

We then thought about some quotes from the Bible and how they could help us in our own lives.

We got lots of ideas from our silent debate.

'We take refuge in God because He is trustworthy'

'God will show me the way to go'

'Gods word will always be there for us'

Eid Al-Fitr

Eid Al-Fitr 1
Eid Al-Fitr 2

We spent a day learning about Eid Al-Fitr. It is when Muslims gather together and celebrate the Holy month of Ramadan. It is similiar to the Christian festival of Christmas as both religions give presents, visit their places of worship to pray and spend time with loved ones.

"I found the day exciting because I was learning about my own religion and sharing it with the class." Hamza

Exploring the lives of significant women in the Bible

We researched women from the Old and New Testaments. We knew a few already but found out more. We thought about what made them valuable people within the Bible stories and how they may inspire us.

"I found looking researching women in the Bible fun, because I got to find out new stories that I never knew existed." Matthew

Why do Christians believe that Easter is a celebration?

We explored the themes of victory and courage through Holy Week. We then researched modern Christian martyrs and wrote fact files about them.  We made a collage of images which we think represent the Christian themes of Easter.

Jesus the teacher

Through this unit we discovered some of Jesus' miracles and how they impacted the lives of some of the world. We read some bible stories and asked some BIG questions. We considered how we learn best and how Jesus went out to teach the nations using some of these strategies.

Christmas - The gospels of Matthew and Luke

We explored the Catholic view and perception of Mary by reading Luke 1:46-55, Mary's song. It shows how Mary is blessed. We researched how various churches in our locality celebrate at Christmas time and compared these to Jewish celebrations at Hannukah.

How and why do Christians read the Bible?

We have interviewed Rev. Rie about why the Bible is so important to her and all of the messages she has learned from it. We have reviewed the Old Testament and the New Testament to find our favourite story. We have read from The Gospels and painted our own illustration to accompany our favourite Gospel quote. We read the story of Rama and Sita and compared it to various Bible stories.

“The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand forever.”  Isaiah 40:8
