Spring

In Science the students have been learning about light. In order to help the children think about how they may apply the knowledge they have learned outside of school, one lesson gave the children the opportunity to research how sunlight is used to power our school’s new solar panels. The children then used what they had learned to make their own informative posters, explaining how these panels worked.

In English, the children have been reading ‘The London Eye Mystery’. To help them gain a wider understanding of the novel, we have also been looking information on the London Underground, which is discussed and referenced within the text. 

 In Year 6, the children have been learning about Lent. They have been considering how people who fast during Lent may feel by suggesting things that they could give up themselves during the Lent period, with a focus on choosing to give up unhealthy things in order to have a healthier lifestyle.

Linking to real life, the children have been increasing their knowledge on chronology and the Vikings. 

We have created our own time lines to show how periods of time overlap and seeing where the Vikings fits into this. 

Within P.E we have been improving our knowledge and skills on striking and fielding. The children have been using a range of throw techniques and independently fielding and bowling at a target.
