Year 6 made a map of the forest school area using natural resources found on the ground. Some groups challenged themselves to add extra detail such as creating the campfire using small sticks and tiny stones.
During our P.E lessons we have began enhancing our rugby skills, we started by practicing the technique of passing while running. Furthermore, we have been able to apply new skills taught by changing speed and direction when running with two hands on the rugby ball. Children have began to use a dummy pass which has helped keep possession of the ball. We have learnt the rules of attacking and defending and how to try an opponent.
During autumn 1 in music, year 6 are creating their own score using instruments and software. They are experimenting the pentatonic scale to create sound that they appreciate which links to their knowledge learnt in year 5. We have investigated percussion instruments both tuned and untuned.
Throughout autumn 2 during PE year 6 have been learning and improving their orienteering skills. Children noe know the eight points of a compass and can use it whilst map reading in teams.
