French tradition- the Yule Log

Today we have been learning about the French tradition of a Yule Log. In England we celebrate Christmas by eating a chocolate yule log. In France the yule Log is very important because it is made from a cherry tree log. They burn the log throughout the night they burn a large cherry tree log with red wine on it. In the morning, if there is any log left it is kept to start the fire the following year. (RB)

The french think that baby Jesus will come to their house if it is a safe and warm place to stay. It means bad log if the whole log burns out before the morning. (JO)

Here are examples of our work.

Today we made our own chocolate log to represent the French Yule Log

Today I added the icing to represent the bark.
I covered the whole log.
I carefully wrapped and decorated the log.
