The children appraised and compared sculptures from artists; Brett Kern and Henry Moore. This allowed to look at different types of sculpture and understand how some sculptures are realistic and detail where some sculptures are more abstract.
The children used the artists Henry Moore and Brett Kern as inspiration for their own dinosaur sculpture design. We based our design on a interpretation of 'Tyrannosaurus Drip,' who is the character from our class story. The children decided if they wanted their sculpture to be more abstract like the examples from Henry Moore, or more realistic like the works from Bret Kern. The children designed their sculptures and considered how they would make certain effects using the clay.
