Reflection Area, Worship and RE

In our class assemblies in September we thought about how we are the same and how we are different. 

Is God like us?

Thomas - He has different hair and skin.

Haleemah - God is like us because he made us.

 

We went on to think about friends and what makes a good friend.

 

In October we linked our Assemblies to Harvest thinking about thanking God for our food.  We wrote thank you prayers to God to hang on our prayer tree.

 

In November and December we learnt the Lord`s Prayer and read and discussed the stories from The Story Mat series book `It`s a big family`.  We thought about what the words mean to us.

Who can we pray for?

Isla - Those that don`t have shoes or socks.

Silas - God keeps us safe at night.

 

At Christmas and in January we thought about the animals in Winter and how we can care for God`s creatures.  We made food for the birds and hung them on an outdoor Christmas tree.  We wrote prayers to God asking him to help us look after hid creatures in Winter.  We used twigs we had collected to make stars to remind ourselves.

In RE we learnt about the stories Jesus might have heard. Jonah and the whale, Daniel and the lion`s den and Noah`s Ark. We retold the story of Jonah, made lion masks and used pastels to create our impression of the flood. What did we learn from the stories? Lydia - Listen to God. Oliver- Do the right things.

Christmas. We compared Christmas celebrations in England with those in Australia. We looked at images of churches in England and Australia and tried to work out which were English and which were Australian. We found out that they celebrate in the same way as us but because it is Sumer there a lot of their services are held by candlelight outdoors.
