For the fresh new term in year 3 we are looking at the novel, written by Ted Hughes, The Iron Man.
Reading this novel gives us lots of different writing opportunities.
We started off by looking at similes to improve our writing. In the first chapter of this novel, there are lots of different similes to describe the Iron Man.
He was as tall as a house.
His head was shaped like a dustbin and the size of a bedroom.
His eyes, like headlamps, glowed red and infra-red.
From this we made some of our own up too.
After we created some of our own similes, we then had a go at rewriting the first chapter as the Iron Man.
The Iron Man had been through so much we knew we had a lot we could talk about!
