We have been lucky enough to have a visit from an early eighteenth century pirate, Captain Burwash. We spent the day exploring artefacts, listening to historic tales about famous pirates focusing on historical accounts and life on board a pirate ship. The children asked lots of questions to deepen their understanding and explore the topic. They worked to created their own 'scary' Jolly Roger flags and created wanted posters to help Captain Burwash advertise for a new pirate crew. The children and myself had a fantastic day.
