The chatter basket was used to explore the story of Hanukkah. We watched a video and listened to the story. The artefacts were left out in Continuous Provision for us to explore. We made stained glass windows in the shape of the Star of David.

We compared Christmas in England to Christmas in Australia. We learnt that because of the weather a lot of their Carol services are held outdoors by candlelight outdoors. We made candles out of finger glitter paint.

We visited Gawthorpe Hall in Burnley to experience a Victorian Christmas. We visited the kitchen and learnt about Christmas puddings, played parlour games with the Butler, made a cornucopia in the schoolroom and Father Christmas told us all about the toys Victorian children would have had in their stocking.
