Christmas and Symbolism of Light.

During RE the children will be looking at how light guides them and how this links back into Jesus as the Light of the World. They will also be creating metaphors, poetry and completing artwork.

Here are some examples of our work.

Today the children have looked at how art work portrays the symbol of light. After a long discussion the children then created their own interpretation of Christmas art and the symbolism of light. They then researched their own Bible passage or added their own metaphor to their card.

These are our pieces of art that show Jesus as the 'light of the world'.

As part of our study of the symbolism of light and Christmas, today we have looked at differing pieces of art and identified where light fit into the Christmas story. After our discussions the children then created  their own interpretation using their choice of materials. To finish they used their Bible to research a reading extract or they created their own metaphor to add to their art work.
We have come to the end of our unit of work on 'Light'. These are some samples of our work based on the 'Christingle' as well as our evaluation of the word 'Light' and how that is important to us all.
